Onlookers turned their eyes as the countdown echoed through the evening air. The rustle of leaves in the surrounding trees seemed to hush. Then, with a sudden roar, the rocket erupted from smoke and flame, soaring into the vast space.

I am always drawn to the complexity and beauty of rocket science. Being in it enriches my understanding and narrows my focus. It felt like entering a holy space from which I couldn't get out. It was the first time I dreamed of creating a rocket that could travel hundreds of miles per hour. But I then realized the obstacles along the journey. Theoretical calculations and advanced equations twisted my mind into knots. And yes, designing the rocket was equally frustrating. Blueprints were all over my workspace. One wrong move, and the whole thing becomes a chaotic mess. To more than I know, building the rocket turned out to be the most challenging task, where every step required an extra pair of hands. I couldn't even understand my own blueprints, sometimes wondering if I had accidentally drawn the plans for a time machine instead.

The vision of building a rocket drove me forward, but I quickly realized that one person alone could not conquer these obstacles. This deprives the opportunity for young minds to explore and contribute to one of humanity's most exciting frontiers. And now, the "spark of curiosity" that ignites future engineers and scientists might never catch fire.

But it's not too late to do something. Vickey, a grade 10 student at BCIS, also shared the dream of high school students learning rocket science together. She and a number of other cofounders founded the Rocketry EA which gives students the chance to apply and translate their learning into real-world accomplishments. "Courage was not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it.” What we truly seek is to understand more about the universe, its secrets, and inspire the next generation to dream bigger and reach further. So as long as you need it, the Rocketry EA will be at your side. It is that vision, that dedication, which we are proud to stand by.
