How I Went from Selling Cookies at School to Building an Ice Cream Brand (Pt. 2)

I started with something as small as selling cookies, but I’m currently using my passion to help benefit the wider community. I’m an ice cream lover and the ultimate foodie, so I’m now running a German ice cream brand in China. Many people in China, especially young people, love to eat ice cream whatever the weather (my classmates eat ice cream every day!). But the choice of delicious ice cream in China is limited. Recognizing that this is a problem I could help solve, I began to look for an ice cream brand that I could work with. I visited shops all over the world to try their ice cream, traveling to more than 10 countries including Japan, Italy, and the US. I eventually found a German ice cream brand that is 100% organic and natural, which has gluten-free, lactose-free, and vegan ice cream.

I loved their ice cream, and I wanted to bring it to China. But it is hard to gain the trust of a business as a 16-year-old high school student. Determined not to give up, I examined ice cream brands in numerous countries and studied the ice cream market in China, both to show them the attractiveness of the Chinese market as well as display my own ability and confidence. Though I had little time to sleep and no time to relax during this time, I enjoyed every minute of what I was doing. Eventually, the German ice cream brand and I reached a deal so that I could share this high-quality ice cream with Chinese people.

This experience shows, to solve whatever problem we choose to address, we need take each step at a time, and be patient. There will be a lot of difficulties, but we need to stick with what fulfills us.

To explore our interests, we need to try new things. I’ve never started a business before; I just like to eat ice cream! Don't be afraid to step out of your comfort zone and try things you've never considered before. Connect to other people, engage in discussions, share ideas, and learn from others' experiences. By interacting with other people, we can find issues that intrigue us and excite us. Keep exploring new interests and diving deeper into existing ones. Stay open to new experiences and opportunities that come your way.

The world offers us so many choices, and it is not always easy to determine what we really want or to find our way. But remember: everyone has something to offer the world, including you. Finding our way is a personal journey, and there's no right or wrong way to do it. Trust your instincts, follow your curiosity, and enjoy the process of discovering what truly inspires and motivates you.
